Mercer Health’s commitment to providing quality, state-of-the-art healthcare to the local community has been reinforced with the implementation of a new Digitial Radiology exam room and Siemens Ysio digital radiography system. Mercer Health was the first to offer digital radiology in the local area and continues to be the only provider in West Central Ohio offering an in house Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit with an extra large opening (open bore) providing more room and comfort to patients up to 550 pounds.
Lynn Kahlig, Radiology Technician at Mercer Health states, “The new space and equipment allows for significant reduction in patient examination and waiting times with images available in less than 10 seconds. In addition to being faster and more efficient the quality of images is better all resulting in a quicker and better diagnosis.”
Unlike traditional X-ray imaging, digital radiography uses digital x-ray sensors instead of traditional radiographic film or computerized radiography systems, allowing for quicker turnaround time. Furthermore, less radiation can be used to produce a high quality image.
Kahlig continues, “The new digital radiography room is strategically located near the emergency room as well as the Cat Scan and MRI units allowing trauma patients requiring multiple studies to be imaged as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
Mercer Health’s Radiology Department is accredited by the American College of Radiology in MRI, CT Scanning, Nuclear Medicine and Mammography – assuring quality care for patients.
