Promoting a Healing Environment
“The Healing Environment initiative was instituted at Mercer County Community Hospital as a way to improve the experience for patients and their loved ones. We started by identifying opportunities to decrease sound, which allows patients to rest more peacefully. We have also added visual reminders for staff and guests visiting patients emphasizing the importance of quiet, controlled environments in patient care areas. We have also went as far as looking at our physical structure and what we can do to increase the patient experience through new furniture, new floor coverings and other aesthetic renovations. Currently we are in the middle of a facelift on the 3rd floor at the hospital which is slated to be complete in October. We are excited about these changes and hope to continue to enhance the patient experience through additional healing environment initiatives,” states Lisa Klenke, CEO of Mercer Health.
