The Mercer County Job and Family Services announce the TANF Summer Youth Employment Program. Mercer County Job and Family Services is partnering with Workforce Investment Act Area 8 Ohio Means Jobs Board and Mercer County Educational Service Center to help youth (age 14 to 23) gain work experience in Mercer County. Employment at area businesses will pay the youth the minimum wage of $7.95/hour. Employment can begin as early as May 1, 2014. This program is an awesome opportunity to help youth gain employment experience, earn money and prepare for their future in the workforce!

To qualify the youth must meet the following criteria:

  • Age 14 to age 23 (must not be 24 years of age prior to application)
  • Be a minor child, be pregnant, a parent (including non-custodial parent with a child support obligation) or be a member of a family that has a minor child in the home
  • Income Eligible based on the family size of 200% of 2014 Federal Poverty Guidelines

  • Submit an application to the Mercer County Job and Family Services by mail, fax, email or in person. Applications are currently being accepted.

In the event that funding is not adequate, a first come, first served policy will apply to the program participants.

Agency hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Mondays, 8:00 AM to 4:30 M Tuesday through Thursday and 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM Fridays.
